How Music and Cognition Work

Music and Cognition design, implement and examine projects that tackle an identified need, through a process that establishes collaborative relationships between researchers, teachers, practitioners, children and the wider school community.

Our objectives are:

  1. To develop our understanding of how learning through music and the arts can support other key areas of children’s development. Specifically in relation to cognition, language and social emotional skills.
  2. To successfully bring together teachers, researchers, practitioners and children during the research process.
  3. To unite theory with real-world activity.
  4. To support the provision of music and arts training, particularly with children who would not otherwise receive the opportunity.
